We love when our clients ask questions. Here are some of the most common FAQ’s.

You should expect to have prepared your space before we arrive by clearing out the area. We need to have access to the project area of the home for the duration of the job; the driveway needs to be available, so our craftsmen can access the home with their trucks.

You do not need an appointment to visit the showroom during regular business hours. However, you will need an appointment if you would like to meet with us to discuss your specific kitchen and bathroom renovation needs.

As a standard part of our service and project management, Renovisions prepares and submits all engineering plans, designs and permits as required by your town. Additionally, we coordinate all required inspections and carefully incorporate them into our day-by-day schedule, so we can continue to work seamlessly throughout the course of the project. For example, if we are waiting for an inspection on one aspect of the job and if feasible, we continue with another part of the job until this inspection is completed.

Renovisions will guide you through the whole process. Our team will visit your home to observe the style, feel, and function of your current space. From there, we will work closely with you, considering your style, budget, and family needs, and will procure the ideal materials for your new kitchen or bathroom.

The two most important considerations are timing and budget. When it comes to timing, we understand that your time is valuable and that renovations can often be stressful. With those factors in mind, we do everything we can to coordinate the project, so it has the least impact on your family. Also, be mindful of your budget. Know what factors you’re willing (or not willing) to compromise on.

Yes, you will have a dedicated project team that includes the designer and lead contractor, who is there on a daily basis to manage the job. You will also have additional dedicated specialists, such as plumbers, electricians, tiler, plasterers, and painters, depending on the specific needs of your job.

Prior to beginning work, drop clothes and floor protection are strategically placed to protect your home. At the end of the day, our crew will roll up the drop clothes and clean them offsite before the following day, broom sweep, and pack away tools, some of which may be left neatly stowed away within the jobsite.

Before the project begins, Renovisions thoroughly investigates all aspects of your remodeling job to minimize project scope changes. However, two types of changes may still arise. The first are necessary changes caused by an unforeseen issue required to keep the project to code, that only become apparent once the wall/floor is open. The second type of change is customer-driven, like adding additional lighting, outlets, interior storage or a different sink style. In all instances, a change order will be generated.

The short answer is that yes you can, however, with several considerations. The first is to determine whether the wall is load-bearing or not. If the wall is not load-bearing and only a partition wall, then it can usually be removed without issue.

If it is determined that the wall is in fact load bearing, it can usually still be removed but will need to be replaced with a properly designed support beam. There are generally two ways the beam can be installed either by recessing it up in the ceiling for a flush look, or by installing it under the ceiling if a boxed in beam look or arch is desired. Either method will require properly designed support columns at either end.

The beam can be made from laminated wood called (LVL), or steel. A beam made of LVL will be much taller than one made of steel, so if you have low ceilings and want a flush look then a steel beam may be the only choice. Otherwise, either one can work fine. A boxed in beam with some molding and decorative columns can look very nice too, it’s all a matter of personal preference and of course budget.

Removing a wall between two rooms can be a great way to create some much- needed space and give your home an entirely new look and feel, however keep in mind that it is not a project for the amateur. Any project that could affect the structural integrity of a building should only be done by a licensed and insured professional and approved by the local building inspector. It can be very dangerous and usually requires the use of an architect or structural engineer to properly calculate weight loads and design a support beam accordingly.

At Renovisions we follow a specifically designed 9-Step Process for your remodel. This professional procedure helps the client understand the phases of the process and defines a schedule that Renovisions follows for each kitchen or bath remodel project. After you’ve made all your choices and have the installation specifications for the products and materials you will use, you will need to discuss the schedule with your designer/contractor. They will provide a detailed scope of work and go over the installation order based on the lead times and specifications on various materials. A typical schedule would start with a complete demolition, any structural modifications, installation of windows and doors, plumbing modifications, electrical modifications, drywall, tape and texture, painting, floor and underlayment, cabinet installation, countertops, plumbing and electrical finish, floor covering installation and appliance installation.
