Our client purchased his dream antique home, a charming 1721 vintage property with three bathrooms last renovated in the 1970s. These baths were dark, closed off, and lacked proper ventilation. After exploring local options, he turned to Renovisions to transform each space into bright, classic, and inviting bathrooms that honor the home’s historic character.
Challenge #1: Navigating the home’s age and difficult attic access.
Solution: Our team expertly maneuvered crooked attic stairs to connect new ventilation to the exterior.
Challenge #2: Discovery of a decayed cast iron vent pipe running from the first floor family room through the second-floor bathroom to the roof.
Solution: We carefully removed the deteriorated pipe and replaced it with durable PVC without damaging existing structures.
For the 1st floor half bath, the client loved the room’s size but disliked its mismatched style. Embracing the home’s era, we introduced black and white marble pinwheel floor tile and a distressed black vanity cabinet—an idea the client adored.
A Carrera marble-look countertop, white rectangular sink, and matte black single-lever faucet replaced the lost pedestal sink. The client’s signature ‘Wrought Iron’ from Benjamin Moore’s Historical Collection added bold contrast to the white wainscoting and period marble mosaics.
Challenge: New wiring inside walls was impossible due to the home’s age.
Solution: A wireless switch was installed to control the ceiling pendant light, with the necessary outlet mounted on the vanity.
Despite COVID-related delays and antique home hurdles, close collaboration ensured a successful transformation—blending old-world charm with bold, modern style.
