This small bathroom was completely reimagined to reflect the calm, organic beauty of the ocean while improving functionality and flow. Soothing hues, natural textures, and a spa-like layout now welcome both homeowners and guests into a serene retreat.
The original layout was awkward and inefficient, with a poorly placed entry off the kitchen. To resolve this, we relocated the door to the front entryway and replaced it with a soft-close pocket door—enhancing privacy, flow, and space efficiency.
A major design priority was replacing the cramped pink fiberglass shower. During demolition, we discovered the walls were not square and a 3″ vent pipe needed to be concealed. A new wall was constructed to accommodate the pipe and provide a squared corner for the vanity.
The original plan included a half wall in the shower, but the client requested a bench seat instead. We adjusted the design to allow the glass to notch around the bench, increasing natural light and making the space feel more open and airier.
The final layout is cohesive and efficient, with each element carefully positioned to maximize space and usability. A mix of tile textures—including ocean-inspired wall tile, slip-resistant flooring, and playful penny tile in the shower—adds visual interest while maintaining a tranquil aesthetic.
A soft gray vanity with a durable quartz countertop adds practical storage and complements the coastal theme. Contemporary details, such as a hand-held shower and discreetly integrated handrail, enhance comfort, safety, and long-term functionality.
This thoughtful redesign proves that even a compact bathroom can become a stylish, relaxing coastal escape with the right vision and execution.
