Our clients came to us hoping to breathe new life into their dark, outdated 1980s kitchen. Their goal was to create a stylish yet family-friendly space that offered better flow, more functional storage, and an inviting atmosphere for everyday living and entertainment. The biggest transformation came from removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room, which required engineering and installing a concealed 15-foot structural steel beam to support the second floor, along with structural modifications in the basement below. This change opened a beautiful 675-square-foot space, now filled with natural light from existing front-facing windows—perfect for brightening winter days and enhancing the connection between kitchen, dining, and living areas.
The centerpiece of the new space is an 11-foot island with furniture-style cabinetry and custom-turned legs, offering generous seating, ample storage, and room for meal prep, baking, crafts, and homework. The island, paired with tall pantry cabinets and two-tone quartz countertops, including a soapstone-look surface on the perimeter and a Calacutta gold-inspired finish on the island—creates a high-functioning, elegant work zone. A built-in bar with wine and beverage refrigeration enhances the space for entertaining, while Carrera marble tile backsplash, three-piece crown molding, and white beaded-inset cabinetry provide layers of timeless detail.
Planning and collaboration were key. Seamless quartz countertop veining, carefully integrated appliances, and a soft, serene color palette bring a sense of balance and sophistication. Every zone was designed for function—from kid-friendly seating to cooking and prep areas—while keeping the design warm and welcoming. Hardwood floors, glass-front display cabinets, and statement lighting tie it all together, giving this kitchen a polished, transitional look that feels bright, comfortable, and livable. The result is a stunning, light-filled space that blends beauty, organization, and practicality—everything this family hoped for in their dream kitchen.
