This kitchen renovation focused on transforming a dated, closed-off space into a warm, functional, and inviting environment—reflecting a fresh start and a new chapter for the homeowner. Originally untouched since the home’s purchase, the kitchen no longer met her lifestyle or design preferences. The goal was to create a more efficient layout with traditional style, enhanced light, and improved connection to adjacent living areas.
The project involved removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room, replacing it with a half-wall to open the space while maintaining definition and allowing natural light to flow in. The existing pantry and closet were reconfigured for better organization, while a fire-rated entry door and exterior updates—including window relocation and siding repairs—were completed to meet safety and code requirements.
To visually connect the kitchen with the adjacent family room, ceiling beams and paneling were extended into the new space, complementing the room’s existing brick fireplace and adding architectural character. The backsplash features a thin brick veneer carefully matched to the fireplace, further tying the rooms together. Cabinetry in sage green paint paired with natural walnut bases provides a timeless, earthy palette. Quartz countertops in soft gray tones and durable porcelain flooring add subtle contrast while enhancing the natural light.
New appliances include six GE Café stainless steel pieces, such as an induction range, armoire-style refrigerator with built-in water dispenser, convection microwave, and a third-rack dishwasher—offering modern functionality in a classic setting.
